How Mindfulness Can Build Resilience

Mindfulness is a specific relaxation technique that can help you manage stress and become more resilient. While the roots of Mindfulness lead us back over two thousand years, it became a big part of the conversation about relaxation techniques in recent years. In a mindful state, you focus on the here and now, without letting in intrusive thoughts that distract and potentially cause stress. Being able to stay focused and clear is an excellent way to fight back against stress and increase the resiliency of your mind and body. Knowing how to block out unwanted thoughts and stay mindful of the now is a very powerful skill. Mindfulness is a state that can be honed and improved through practice.

Benefits of Mindfulness

Regularly practicing mindfulness has many proven benefits such as improving focus, memory, and awareness while decreasing stress and anxiety. When you train yourself to become more mindful it can help you with everything from pain management to get the most from your workout. As you complete more and more mindfulness exercises you will have an increasing ability to attend to your body state and realize that even the most stressful situation is not permanent.

How Mindfulness Works

Mindfulness involves the mental task of being more aware of yourself and your surroundings without making judgments or trying to change what you are experiencing. Typically you will be asked to focus on something either in your body or in your environment and pay attention solely to that one thing. It can be the feeling of your feet touching the ground as you walk or the way your back feels as you sit in a chair. Learning to be mindful can help you reach new heights mentally and physically.

Why Mindfulness Works

It is important to keep in mind that mindfulness practice is more than meditating. While it is a form of meditation, it is a very specific practice that can help you manage pain, stress, anxiety, and much more. Mindfulness works in more than one way. The first reason it works is that as we pay more attention to one aspect of our attention, we can learn to push out the chatter that so often intrudes our minds. This can help us learn to set aside things that cause stress.

Another reason mindfulness works are because it helps to create and strengthen neural pathways that may not have existed. By priming these pathways you can create networks in the brain that boost concentration, flexibility, and awareness.

How Resility Health can help you implement mindfulness into your life

Mindfulness became a topic of mainstream conversation over the past few years as a nuanced way to meditate and reach an improved mental state. What research has found is that mindfulness can be used to achieve more both mentally and physically. Even some professional athletes have joined the bandwagon and use mindfulness as part of their training program. This is why mindfulness lessons are a part of the Resility Health program. By completing these lessons you will learn how to exist at the moment and push aside the things that cause you stress.

Using mindfulness as part of your relaxation repertoire is among the best ways to minimize the impact of stress on your body and improve your resiliency.
